Service Principles

  • Service principles will be used to develop and evaluate services to children and families.
  • Children will have an individual service plan specifying needed services. The plan will be developed, approved and reviewed by all agencies involved, the family and when appropriate, the individual affected.
  • Services will strengthen the ability of the family to become as independent as possible.
  • The first priority will be to provide services in the home, school and community.
  • Services will promote and support prevention as the most efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Services will be coordinated in a timely manner, will maximize continuity and will minimize barriers among providers.
  • Services will provide an array of coordinated interventions varying in intensity.
  • The child and family's individuality, right to confidentiality and self respect will be protected.
  • Agencies and providers will be responsive to the cultural and linguistic diversity of children and families.
